One of the things I love about fashion is that it connects people. Whether you’re up on all the latest and greatest designers or you don’t give a damn, it’s a common ground that many can bond over. I have been fortunate enough to make some incredible connections thanks to fashion. Beyond making new friends, both local and international, and being introduced to emerging brands, I’ve really reconnected with myself.
Taking the time to find your style can really help you connect with yourself in many ways. Take shopping for example, who is a bigger critic of your image than you? Another example is when you slip on your favorite outfit and you simply feel unstoppable. Trying new styles helps you discover more about who you are and even who you aspire to be. It opens your eyes to where you are now while helping you create a path to your best self. Though it takes time, and honesty, refining your style can help you have a better relationship with yourself.
Connecting with yourself on a level of honesty where you can admit and love the good and the bad is so powerful. It helps you to find solutions to your style problems quickly and makes it easier to truly choose items that make you feel incredible. We all have this ability, you just have to listen to yourself. Be truthful but kind with yourself, be open to all the possibilities, get creative. Ultimately you’ll learn to trust your decisions and follow them with confidence.
