Today, well yesterday, Lil Miss JB Style officially turned one. And although I’m glad to have accomplished so much, I feel I have done you all a disservice. Though this has been a space for me to share my style and tips on how you too can be more stylish, what you’ve been getting is only a small fraction of the real me. Sadly I’ve been giving you all what feels like the diet, watered down, not as tasty version of Jordan here Lil Miss JB Style. You know, the reserved, corporate America appropriate knock-off of my real opinions and take on style.
Why you ask? Well for many reasons really:
- Not wanting to anger potential readers and clients with vulgar language and frank opinions
- Concern of what should happen if my co-workers were to stumble across my “secret” place
- My unwillingness to be freely open and to put myself, my style, and thoughts, on completely on display
- And even worse my friends, what my father would say if he saw some of my outfits. And trust me there is no fear like the one instilled from my old man.
But honestly I haven’t been doing you guys any justice sharing my sugar-coated, and frankly rather generic, annoyingly repetitive and said a million times by other generic fashion bloggers, opinions and tips when it comes to fashion. So with the arrival of Lil Miss JB Style’s blogiversary, allow me to re-introduce myself.
What’s up, I’m Jordan. Among of plethora of nicknames I tried to make a thing, the only one which has stuck with me to this point in my life is tragically JB. I’m currently a 24 year-old Purdue graduate turned engineer who, due to her unhappiness at work, started a fashion blog like most millennials on Tumblr. It began as a way to share my style while encouraging other recent-grads and women in male dominated work environments to dress stylishly, though looking back I wouldn’t dare show you what I wore and worse considered to be fashionable work wear. Still unhappy at my job, I decided to expand my blog beyond just style posts to offer personal styling services for recent college graduates, entrepreneurs and women in the work force. My hope is to share the confidence and freedom that I found once I discovered and embraced my style with other women who feel their style has confined them. In continuing my engineering knowledge through graduate school at Kettering for lean manufacturing, I recently decided to expand my services even further to include social media management and coming soon, consulting.
In my spare time my dog, Anastasia, and I enjoy walking in the park, dancing around my house to music that is far too loud, working out, spending insane amounts of time online shopping and ending up in random situations with my friends. Personally I think fashion itself is bullshit and like to focus my energy solely on refining my style. Life is too short to get caught up on what’s “in” and what “so and so” is wearing. I’d rather spend my money and more importantly my time on wearing what makes my feel amazing, experiencing life and creating awesome stories to tell, and eating life altering food, so if you’re looking for high end name brands, you won’t find it here. What you will find is body positive style inspiration, affordable fashion, and how-to’s that make refining your style easy and accessible. So welcome to Lil Miss JB Style, I hope that you’ll stick around, take a peak at my February recap and Style Q&A and subscribe to my mailing for exclusive bi-weekly style advice from yours truly. Until I post again, JB.
