Drape
I don’t know if you’ve noticed but draped pieces have been everywhere. Between dresses, skirts and even purses it seems like the always flattering draping design, aka ruching, is having a major moment right now. And I ain’t even mad about! I mean how can you not love a piece that makes your butt look amazing while hiding your food baby? One of my favorite finds has been this draped skirt from H&M. It’s the perfect shade of brown for any season and the length makes it easy to wear to almost anything you’ve got going on. With so many ways to style it I figured I’d share a chic drape skirt outfit idea that you can wear anywhere, even around the house for a sexy yet comfortable pick me up.
Lately I’ve been playing with more feminine looks and this skirt screams “I am a woman” to me. I love that it hugs my curves without feeling restrictive so I could easily move, even dance should I get the urge. And in this skirt that urge comes pretty often. Beyond the piece itself being flattering it’s versatile which you guys know is a must for anything I bring into my closet. It looks great with a bodysuit, tee, hell even a sports bra but I decided on a crop top with a tie knot detail. Even though the pieces in this look are minimalistic the knot creates a focal point and then your eyes follow the ruching on the skirt downwards to my favorite strappy summer sandals. When people talk about playing with proportions to draw attention where you want it, this outfit is a perfect example of what they mean. It’s those little details that really can make an outfit stand out from the sea of sameness without looking like you’re trying so hard. Not that there’s anything wrong with trying hard but I just love looks that come together with what seems like very little effort. You know the ones that at first glace look as though they just grabbed simple pieces but it came together in an inexplicably chic way. Similar to my lwd dress outfit, I reached for my tan cloud pursue to really play up the texture of the skirt. Much like writing, using repetition in an outfit helps to set the vibe. Plus I’ve been obsessing over these clutches, I recently bought a faux fur one so be on the look out for that! And finally to keep the look from feeling too soft I went with some thick gold jewelry. The heaviness of the rings and earrings really make them stand out and give what feels like a bit of a masculine touch.
Honestly I’ve been wearing some variation of this exact outfit while working from home. Although I skip the heels and walk around barefoot with a cup of tea instead of a clutch and flowers. The breathable fabric of both pieces lets you feel the soft summer breeze through the window so you don’t get too hot. And as I mentioned the skirt also isn’t too tight so you can really get comfortable laying on the couch or wearing it to walk the dog. And if you’re looking to finally go out as places open back up, it will definitely get the attention of whoever you’re meeting up with, or trying to meet.
