Oh Spring! That time of year when we take on the arduous task of sifting through our clothes, and if we’re up for it, our homes, and determine their fate in a process we’ve dubbed Spring cleaning.  Though this isn’t everyone’s favorite task, I personally feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders and find a new perspective on my wardrobe.  The best part of detoxing your wardrobe is being able to make room for the new, just like Spring.  If you’ve been following Lil Miss JB Style for a while you’ll know I’m really not into trends.  I’m more into classic pieces with a modern twist that share my personality while making me feel amazing.  So my stylist picks for spring are:

  1. High waist jeans.  I’m so glad high rise jeans are still a thing because they are the perfect solution for those of us gifted with round bottoms.  Not only do they highlight your waist, they save you from un-wanted crack flashing when you bend over or sit down.
  2. Sheer Blouses.  Though I am a fan of crop tops, sheer blouses are an equally sexy alternative as the weather gets warmer.  You can make them work appropriate by adding a cami then rock it on a night out with a lacy bralette.
  3. Shoes.  Shoes are the easiest way to update a wardrobe or outfit.  They can take your look from casual to dressy in the amount of time it takes you to put them on.  For spring I’m craving more barely there sandals and chic flats to comfortably take me from day to night.
  4. Longline vests.  Vests are another easy way to update your look and add something unexpected.  They can be worn over your blouse for work or over a tank top and shorts combo to provide extra coverage and edge!

Please remember that YOU ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO BUY ANYTHING just because you’re out shopping.  Many people feel pressured to come home with at least one item as a consolation prize for hours upon hours spent shopping, but there’s no need to waste your money.  To build a curated wardrobe you must be patient and know when to walk away from items that are not adding value to your style.  If you need help on your shopping trips or with building a wardrobe check out my services and schedule a consultation today.

Now I want to hear from you, how do you decide what to add to your wardrobe?
