Topshop Blazer Link Up

As a northerner it’s important to not only know how to layer, but get creative as well.  I’m a big fan of vests, see how to rock a longline vest to work, and using the belt trick to add shape, see my tips on how to not look bulky while layering, but I also love a good scarf for an extra bit of warmth.  When it comes to scarves the key is to think of out of the box ways to get the most bang for your buck.  Here are some alternative ways to style a scarf this season:

  1. Wear it as a top.  On those warmer fall days swap out your tee with a scarf.  Tactfully tuck parts of it into your bra to keep from any Janet Jackson-esque mishaps.
  2. Swap your belt out.  Use a colorful scarf to add some fun to your look and cinch your waist at the same time, a win win when layering in the fall.
  3. Experiment with a new knot.  Instead of the usual wrap around the neck, try a new type of knot or even learn how to tie it like a tie.

As always you want to make sure you choose a scarf that not only compliments your skin but will work for multiple seasons as well.  Versatile garments are the key to getting the most out of your wardrobe especially when you are on a budget.  See how else I styled this scarf here.
