A few weeks ago my closest college bestie and I scored a great deal on Groupon to an all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana. We hastily packed our carry-ons and impatiently waited for our tropical getaway to begin. Around the same time last year I was headed to Bonaire and shared my packing list and a lookbook filled with outfit ideas for my trip. Both trips I was fortunate enough to escape the Detroit cold and make use of my summer wardrobe. If you’re struggling with what to bring, here are my tips on packing for a tropical vacation:
- Plan your trip. Don’t just decide where and how long your going to be at your tropical destination, take into account the weather and what activities you plan on doing while you’re there.
- Choose items that are easy to mix and match. It’s important to choose items that are versatile and work well with each other. This will mean less clothes to pack while still having endless outfit options.
- Pack clothes that work for your activities. Keep in mind what you plan to do, even if you are going to lounge all day at the beach or hiking around bring clothing that you’ll be comfortable so you can thoroughly enjoy your trip.
- Stick to simple accessories. No need to bring your most expensive bling, sunnies and hats are a great way to finish off an otherwise plain look while on vacation.
Whether you’re headed to the Dominican Republic or Hawaii there’s not need to stress about packing for your trip. See what I wore on last year’s tropical vacation to Bonaire.
