Resort Wear
Packing for a beach vacay is a lot easier for me than packing for other kinds of trips. A simple weather check is really all I need to start planning outfits because I know unless there’s bad weather I’ll be spending majority of my time on the beach. This was my first time traveling to Mexico in January and I was pleasantly surprised at how warm it was. I also got lucky because even though there had been a few heavy storms before my stay, it only rained on the day I arrived and the day I left. One thing I did had to consider when deciding what to bring was that El Dorado Royale is a luxury resort so they have a stricter dress code than some other resorts in the area. That meant I’d need to bring some dressier looks to wear for dinner. If you’ve not been to a resort or are unsure what to wear, here’s every outfit I wore during my stay to give you some resort vacation outfit ideas for your next trip!
1. Bright Ruched Beach Dress
With the temps reaching the high 70’s during the day I relied on this ruched dress from JLuxLabel as a beach cover up most days. I love that it was easy to put on and take off. Plus because it is kind of sheer so it wasn’t obvious that my suit was soaking wet underneath it! I finished off the look with these leopard print slides that were comfortable to walk in and easy to throw off as soon as I hit the beach.

2. High Waist Bikini
I like to refer to this suit from ASOS as my period suit. Unfortunately mother flow decided to grace me with her appearance the last two days of my trip. I don’t know about you guys but my body holds onto everything the days leading up to my period. Honestly it’s so bad that once my mom asked if I was pregnant! So I reach for my high waisted suit whenever I want to hide my belly. The fabrics of this suit is super comfortable and the darker color helps to slim my tum tum.

4. Cheeky Bikini
I’ve had this suit from Bayu the Label for a few years now but honestly it doesn’t get much wear. The thong style makes this swim suit a little harder for me to wear living in Detroit most of the beaches have kids so I try to avoid wearing it in those kinds of situations. Since I had the swim up room and the resort is adults only I felt way more comfortable wearing it!

5. Dressy Maxi Dress
Of course I had to bring this summer dress I bought at Zara. There are so many reasons I love this dress. It’s fitted without being skin tight making it super flattering for my figure. The slit is adjustable so you can show as much, or as little, leg as you’d like. Also the fabric is super light and breathable making it perfect for the warmer weather. I wore this to dinner but this could easily be worn throughout the day as well.

6. Cozy Knit Maxi Dress
I purchased this LnA dress at the very last minute because I wanted a cozier maxi dress to wear and I’m so glad I did. I cannot say enough about how soft this dress is. It’s the perfect length and crazy flattering, even after waayyy too many drinks. I wore this to dinner with a cardigan layered over it and again to breakfast!
