Ponchos and capes seem to always make the hottest trends list year after year for fall and winter fashion. Honestly, I used to shy away from them because I felt that they were a tad too old lady-ish for my taste.
As I got more into fashion and began the never-ending quest to refine my personal style I figured it was time to branch into the uncharted territories beyond my style comfort zone.
I picked a cape in a fun herringbone pattern to act as a statement piece that can be worn at work, on weekends and into the night. I decided to take a more casual approach by pairing it with jeans and booties. To keep from looking baggy and shapeless I cinched the cape at the waist using a belt with gold detailing to match my booties. I reached for my new favorite purse to add a hint of color and was off to spend some quality time with my family.
Style Tip: If your poncho keeps shifting (riding up or down) only tuck the front portion into the waist belt and leave the back out to still get the defined waist without having to readjust every 10 seconds!
