It’s so hard to convince people to go out in the fall and winter here in Michicagan because it’s FREEZING at night.  That basically means you’re stuck with the tough decision of how dress warm and look chic at the same time, which is where this poncho comes in quite handy.  Now back in college I won’t lie, I was one of those girls who would rock a crop top, mini skirt, and open toed heels with no jacket to parties in the middle of January, and no I’m not ashamed.  Granted I would run from the car to the door of the party, but still not the wisest decision I’ve made.

The real struggle when it’s cold is how to pick an outfit that’s warm for the weather outside but wont cause you to sweat profusely and die of heat exhaustion inside the party you’re attending.  My go-to styling strategy in the cold weather, regardless of if I’m headed to work or a party is  layering definitely.  This poncho is the perfect layering piece because it’s ability to take me from the office to the dance floor with a few minor changes.  For a night out I layered it over a long sleeve mini bodycon dress and paired it with lace-up heels to show off my legs and toe nail game before the snow starts to cover the ground.  Also the long sleeves can be rolled up if I start to feel like I’m getting too hot at the party.  See how else you can wear a poncho on the weekends.  Also check out this look and others in my AW Trends Video!

Comment below and tell me: What do you rock on a night out in winter?
