If you’re a northerner then you are well aware of how erratic the weather can be. 60’s on Friday and snowing all weekend. As if dealing with the bitter cold and extra snow isn’t enough, picking an outfit that feels like spring while the weather desperately clings to winter has it’s own challenges. But you know me, if you’ve been following me for a while, I love a good challenge. They’re important for keeping your style fresh and re-imagining your wardrobe. Last week I had to style my shirt dress as a tunic, this week I’m wearing my vest as a blouse. And it’s not the first time it’s been done here on Lil Miss JB Style. Because if there’s one thing you should know about my style, it’s all about versatility.
These days we wear many hats and a girl needs the right outfit for each of them. For most women that means having clothes strictly for work or the weekend, but that strategy can be damaging to your bank account. Instead you need to start making your clothes wear just as many hats as you do. Now obviously not everything in your wardrobe will be 100% versatile, though a girl can dream, it’s important to find new ways to wear what you own. It’s also just as important to only add clothes to your closet that you can wear various ways. Not only does this wardrobe building strategy save you money, but time spent agonizing over what to wear. And the best way to do this is just to experiment. Get a little weird, how else do you think some of the biggest trends like dresses over pants and socks with heels came to be? Think out of the box and see what you come up with, especially with some of those clothes you haven’t worn in a while. When you learn to restyle what you already own your closet becomes that much bigger without even spending a dime! See how else I styled a vest as a blouse for work.
Now I want to hear from you, what do you do to refresh your style?

Such a great look! Fabulous coat and vest! Yes, I’m a northerner as well and this spring has been something else, hasn’t it?
Yay a fellow northerner! It’s been incredibly frustrating to say the least but it’s looking like we’ve seen the last of the cold for the season…I hope. Thanks for stopping by Amy.
I love that vest under your coat…so chic and cute! The whole look is gorgeous! Its a bummer you still have cold…we do a little here too in Seattle…rain and clouds, last week it was 80, crazy weather!

Thanks Regine, I always score great finds at H&M.
lovely! neutrals are so pretty for spring. I wish we had cold weather! It was rainy all last week and now it’s mid-80s – why? 🙁
I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone wanting cold weather over rain and 80’s lol. But I’m glad you enjoyed my look Tianna!
It looks great as a blouse – makes an interesting play of layers for sure. Thanks so much for sharing.
Playing with layers is a great way to add depth to a look, glad you liked it Charlie.
Very nice neutral look! I love the idea of making our wardrobe work for us and doing double duty.
Thanks Jennie, that’s what I’m about here at Lil Miss JB Style. Maximizing what you own so you can spend your time and money where it really counts.
