Putting together a NYE outfit can seem really overwhelming, especially if you’re the type of person who goes shopping every time you have somewhere out of the ordinary to go. The problem with this method is that it leads to a closet full of clothes that don’t work with each other or your lifestyle. To combat this it’s important to learn to shop your closet to create looks then fill any gaps you find as needed. Not only will this lead to a closet that’s easy to mix and match but guarantees that you’re wisely spending your money. Even when creating a NYE outfit you can easily shop your closet to create a look by following these tips:
- Start with a body flattering base. Whether it’s a bold sequin dress or a simple jumpsuit make sure you start your look with a piece or pieces that makes you feel amazing.
- Accessorize for the occasion. If you’re going to a more formal event, keep it more conservative with a few pieces that sparkle. Heading to a night out? Feel free to add whatever works with your personal style.
- Choose shoes wisely. If you’re going to be dancing the night away don’t reach for those sparkly heels that you’ve never worn. Be smart and opt for shoes that will fight the elements while keeping you comfortable so you can enjoy your night.
- Layer as you see fit. Since I’m celebrating my NYE in Toronto I will be layering with a heavy yet chic longline coat. Make sure you account for the weather and layer your outfit appropriately but be sure that your layers compliment your look.
