Just when I planned on hanging up the towel on dark clothes for the season, this happened. Monochrome dressing is nothing new, especially in all black since it’s slimming and looks good on everyone, even cat woman in full body spandex. Though sometimes, or a lot of the time, it can get played out real quick. Just like when I wore full on black here, you have to be sure to mix it up to keep your look from being boring and to add personality. Whether you’re adding some drama with a grey longline vest or some statement heels, here few ways to spice up an all black look are:
- Throw Shade. Instead of sticking to black only add some hints of white or grey to break up the look and to draw attention to a statement piece.
- Texture Play. Add various textures to your look to provide depth, think oooo shiny meets soft and fuzzy.
- Bling Bling. Using all black is a great way to draw attention to some statement jewelry or makeup look.
I’m sure I’ve said this before and I will continue to say it until I’m senile and can’t remember, but the most important thing is comfort! Being comfortable not only in your outfit, but in your skin, encourages confidence which is one of the most important elements of style! See how else I’ve worn monochromatic looks here and here.
Comment below and tell me: Would you wear a grey longline vest?

I love this look. I am not sure I could pull it off but you look wonderful. Glad you shared at #HomeMattersParty
Angela,
Thanks for stopping by, I’m sure you could pull off this look. The trick is to find to right hem lengths for you. If you’re not a fan of showing some skin try a longer crop top that has the type of sleeves you like. From there it’s just finding the right length culottes and vest. Hope that helps!
Liking how you’ve put this outfit together and the long vest especially-its a great finishing for a laidback tailored look as opposed to a full blown jacket or blazer. I was out shopping in LDN recently and so lots of tailored long vests, so they are super en vogue now!
