-Now to Ask a Stylist-
“I have a major tropical vacation coming up this summer and I feel like I don’t have anything to wear. I plan to go shopping soon but I just have no idea where to start. How do I figure out what I should buy for vacation?”
Does this sound like you? Don’t worry, this is a common struggle everyone has no matter if you’re headed somewhere tropical, like I will be this Saturday, or just to visit family for the weekend. There’s something about setting limitations to how many clothes you can bring on a trip that overwhelms us. Although honestly, how many times have you traveled and thought to yourself, “I really should have brought those unbearable stilettos to run around in”, odd are probably never.
Determining what to buy for a vacation is no different than the process of adding new clothes to your closet. They should:
- Work with your body shape.
- Fit your lifestyle, or in this case what you’ll be doing on your trip.
- Easily mix and match with what you already own.
- Be an item you’ll love and re-wear over and over again.
Don’t get fooled into thinking you need a dress just for your vacation or a new swim suit you would only wear to Cancun. The key is picking versatile items that not only work for your trip but more importantly work with your current wardrobe. Looking for inspiration on what to wear for your trip? Check out my travel style for some stylish outfit ideas to rock on your next vacation. Also since I will be in Mexico next week there won’t be any posts here on the blog. No worries though, you can keep up with my travels on Instagram!
Now I want to hear from you, do you struggle with what to buy for vacation? If so why?

Great tips… Those things are easy to remember when buying other things, but it’s so easy to be tempted to splurge or buy one-wear-buys for vacations!
I know, especially when you’re headed somewhere tropical but live in a place that struggles to get above the 80’s in the summer. I’m glad these tips were useful and hopefully you remember them the next time you shop for your vacation Casey.
