What to Wear in Miami
If you’ve been searching for some beach outfit ideas then you’re in the right place because in this post I’m sharing everything I wore during my solo vacation in Miami Beach! Choosing what to wear to the beach can feel overwhelming especially when you struggle with your body image. Like you, I fall in and out of love with my body on a daily basis. One way I’ve been improving my self confidence is by doing. That means enjoying a coffee date, learning new skills like skating, going to Miami solo and wearing pieces that I’ve wanted to try but wasn’t completely sure I could pull off. It’s not a perfect system but when I tell you putting on the outfits I planned out even though I was feeling bloated and gross due to my period really boosted my confidence. I instantly was reminded why buying clothes that you feel good in can be so powerful. To help you figure out what to wear if you’re headed to the beach or to Miami keep scrolling to see every outfit I wore on my trip. This will give you an idea of what to pack, an idea of why these pieces felt amazing and some inspiration for your next vacation!
My Airport Outfit
So I failed to get a pic of the exact outfit I wore to the airport, but you can see it in my Miami Vlog here. My go-to airport outfit is usually a layering piece, in this case an oversized button up, a breathable top and a pair or cozy pants. I’ve been living in matching sets because they’re sleek and comfy so it felt like a no brainer fit to wear on the plane. I paired my zebra matching set with some sock sneakers that I could easily take on and off for TSA. I like dressing a step up from athliesure when I travel because you’re sure to turn heads plus sometimes you may get free upgrades.

What to Wear to Breakfast/Lunch
The weather can be a bit unpredictable in Miami in July but I was really lucky that the day I landed was really sunny. I decided to take a Lyft over to the Fendi Caffe to grab lunch since it was outdoors. I wore this orange ruched bodycon dress that hugs my curves in the best way with plenty of stretch for my food baby. The color also makes my skin look amazing! Since I planned to do some exploring I paired the dress with these sporty sandals that were lightweight and cozy to walk in. This dress is a little sheer so it would also be the perfect beach coverup dress or even something to wear to a beach party.

Exploring The Sites
Part of my plan was to take some pictures in the iconic Museum Garage which was just a couple blocks away from Miami’s design district. I did a quick wardrobe change into the perfect summer outfit that wouldn’t compete with the vibrant pink background but I could also wear to explore a little bit afterwards. This crop top is definitely a little more risque but I have been really loving tops like this recently! Also the way these shorts are super breathable and sit high up in a way that really shows off my legs. If you swap out my cute tie front crop top for your bikini this look would be perfect for laying poolside or at the beach.

A Beach Outfit Idea
After an afternoon of exploring the Design District I decided to soak up some sun at the beach. I went with a hat to make sure my face was covered because I know what Miami sun doesn’t play. Plus the hat and sunnies combo made me feel like a video vixen. I also used a shirt dress as a beach cover up in order to make sure my back as well as shoulders wouldn’t get burned. Do yourself a favor and wear beach sandals because the sand gets crazy hot so you want to protect your feet also! I personally think this bikini top style to be the most flattering for my smaller boobs, it makes them look fuller.

What to Wear to a Rooftop Restaurant
For dinner I headed to Watr at the Rooftop at 1 Hotel. When it comes evening wear I’m all about being chic yet comfortable. Miami style is very vibrant which I love so I’m glad I remembered that I had this zebra print dress sitting in my closet because it was perfect for just this occasion. The smocking cinches my waist while making my butt look big. I also love a dress with a leg slit because I work hard for my powerful legs so I love any opportunity to show them off! I paired it with pair of black sandals and matching black purse to enjoy some delicious food, live DJ and ocean views!

An Outfit You can Wear to the Beach and Beyond
Since I thought it would rain the rest of my trip, I packed most of my activities into the first day which freed up day 2. With my new found free time I decided to soak up some more sun on the beach. I wore my trusty tiger print bikini and paired it with my tiger print pants so I could walk Ocean Drive to grab a coffee before laying out on the sand. Again I went with my cozy sport sandals that were perfect for walking on all terrains. Honestly I’ve been digging mixing similar prints lately, especially animal print. It’s a bold choice and the fact that it looks crazy good really boosts my confidence!

The Perfect FIt to Beat the Miami Heat
For the afternoon I decided to wander around Wynood which is a famous art district in Miami. There’s tons of graffiti, indoor art galleries and an outdoor mural gallery as well. Plus there’s a lot of delicious places to pick up a snack. To beat the humidity and heat I decided to wear a super flatter zebra slip dress that would pop in front of all the art and paired it with my cozy matching sneaker. There’s really nothing like a dress that is cut just right for your curves. The cowl neck is flattering for my small bust yet the dress doesn’t sit too tight anywhere to make the dress drape in an unflattering way. This was the perfect outfit to see the sites then to dinner at Swan. With a different pair of shoes it would also work to wear to a night club.

A Poolside Outfit Idea
The weather continued to bless me because on day 3 because all the rain that was supposed to come passed by Miami so I was able to enjoy another morning at the beach. I threw on a fun beach cover up over my trusty reversible bikini that I’ve had for years. As I mentioned earlier wearing bolder prints and colors has really been giving me a boost these days. I feel like if I can pull them off I can do just about anything else I put my mind to! If you want make a string bikini feel more modern you can cross the straps at the top to give it an updated look. This can work for laying by the pool as well!

A look that works for day and night
I decided to spend my last evening checking out the Lincoln Mall area, I specifically wanted to check out Showfields. The interactive displays created such a fun and unique shopping experience. Afterwards I plan stopped at Casa Tau for dinner. By now you can probably tell I rely on outfits that work for more than one activity. In this case I paired a sexier cut out dress with my bright sport sandals. It was both comfortable for walking around but dressy enough for a nice dinner. What I’m loving about cut outs is that in the right place they can really enhance my shape. In this case the cut at my rib cage makes it look smaller than it usually does in a dress that isn’t cut out.

You probably recognized a lot of familiar pieces in this post because one of my goals was to not to buy anything new for my trip. You might book a trip but feel like the clothes you have aren’t good enough. I hope that by sharing my mantra on “building confidence by doing” as well as everything I wore in Miami that you look at your closet with fresh eyes. And if you do really decide to add something new to create a beach outfit that you’re picky and only choose pieces make you feel amazing!
