When I first spotted the utility trend on the runway for SS15 (Spring/Summer 2015) I will admit I was very skeptical, I mean who wants to be in drab military ensemble when the weather is so nice? That was of course before I spotted this wrap skirt on ASOS during my usual search for seasonal updates for my clients, to see all of my services click here. I instantly had to have it as I had been looking for a unique wrap skirt that was also office friendly and this on trend utility wrap skirt fit the bill. Typically when people hear utility they think of military jackets and combat boots making the utility trend seem a bit too tough and tomboy-ish for some. Thankfully there are tons of chic ways to bring this trend into your wardrobe, here are a few to get you started:
- Opt for a military structured garment in a shade you enjoy wearing
- Choose a piece with utility-esque embellishments, think buttons and even patchwork
- Find feminine silhouettes in utility colors like olive or khaki
- Pick out some utility inspired accessories
Whether you’re a girly girl or a little like the boys the utility trend is definitely not going anywhere soon, I mean military jackets are still on several “it-girls” must have list, so it may be time to channel your inner cadet and join the ranks. See how else I’ve rocked the utility trend here and here.
