If you couldn’t tell by my mood board, summer for me is all about being effortless, no fussing over clothes for this girl.  I want my outfits to seem as though they fell together and are easy breezy, I mean who doesn’t?  That means looser silhouettes and lighter fabrics that allows us to breathe, because we all know how disgusting it can be when your clothes are clinging to your sweaty bod…not the cutest look.  For the month of June I wanted to focus on adding more work clothes to my closet and looks to the site because that’s really how I got started in this business anyways.  Following your free spirit vibes can be a little tough in a work environment that restricts your clothing options, but don’t fear it is still possible.  When choosing clothes to match your carefree style keep these tips in mind:

  1. Simple Silhouettes. This is important both in and out of the work place because you want garments that you can just throw on and go without much thought.  If you pick fussy prints or styles it makes it harder to to just grab the first thing you see and match it with other garments, unless your going for the clashing trend.
  2. Loose Garments.  Part of being a free spirit is knowing that your clothes don’t have to squeeze your body, nor should you want them too when it’s 80 + degrees out. Instead of your go to slacks or pencil skirt opt for some breezy wide leg pants or culottes or even an on trend midi wrap skirt in classic colors or print that can last beyond this season.
  3. Light Fabric.  Let be honest the summer is hardly the time for suede skirts and wool sweaters so make sure you stick to fabrics such as cotton, silk or a linen blend that’s more breathable.

Let’s not forget about the accessories.  The easiest way to give your simple silhouettes some UMPH is with stylish accessories that show your personality.  Personally I think statement necklaces are out for summer, it’s all about minimal jewelry and fun shoes, especially for the office.  I also like to add some flair with a clutch or purse, but I would advise against it for more traditional 9-5s.  If you find a hard time shopping for new clothes or dressing appropriately for work, let me help you!  Schedule a consultation and together we can get your style where you want it to be.  Make sure you check out my other stylist picks here, here and here.
