Overall Look

With the weather fluctuating from cool mornings to warm afternoons a lighter transitional coat is an important piece to consider purchasing for the spring season.  Now you may be thinking a short sleeve coat is not going to do much for protecting me against the weather but you’re wrong.  The trick to a transitional coat is to find one that works for your needs.  My core tends to get colder much easier than my arms or legs so a shorter sleeve coat is perfect for me to fight off the slight chill in the early spring.  Here are my tips on picking a transitional coat to get you through the spring:

  1. Pick the right fit. Just like choosing a coat for winter, you want to be sure that this coat is the right fit for what you plan to wear it with.  It should be able to be easily layered while flattering your figure.
  2. Keep your current wardrobe in mind.  Find a coat in a color or pattern that works with what you already own so that you can maximize your closet.
  3. Think versatility.  The right coat can be worn for a variety of occasions, from season to season, and even be worn by itself as a dress or restyled as a top.

The key is to work with your body and lifestyle needs to get the most out of your wardrobe.  There’s no need to force something that doesn’t work for you or has no use in your everyday life.  Be realistic and remember to wear what makes you happy!
