I don’t know why but as of late I’ve found myself gravitating towards cozy sweater dresses for this season. In previous years it’s been a great jacket or solid pair of jeans. But this year I find myself masquerading around the streets of Royal Oak in my sweater dress with my dog Ana in tow as if I’m a girly girl. Not that there’s anything wrong with being girly, it’s just a side of myself I’m still getting to know. I mean most of my life was spent as a tomboy.
My new love affair with a cozy sweater dress is because I’ve finally recognized it for what many have seen as for years: the perfect fall piece. It’s something you can just throw on with minimal styling and look impossibly chic. A simple hat with a pair of booties and you’re out the door. With the right outerwear you can make a sweater dress edgy or you can simply wear it around the house while making boss girl moves. The possibilities are truly endless.
If you’re pear-shaped like me, my advice is to be wary of the dress style. Fit and flare sweater dresses are more effortless while shapeless styles require a little more work to add back your curves.
