This past weekend I had the honor of being invited to the 11th Annual Walk Fashion Show Detroit which totally blew my mind! Walk held two shows which showcased 39 designers plus local artists and other talents. I, sadly, did not make it to the earlier show but did have the great fortune to attend the second one in the evening with my friend and fellow blogger Leah { Beauty and the Muse }. Not only did I get to see some behind the scenes and new designers, I also met some awesome new bloggers as well! I will warn you now I took A LOT, and I mean a whole lot, like a lot a lot, of pictures but I tried my best to narrow it down to my favorites from each designer. Keep scrolling to see some awesome fashion not only from Detroit but internationally as well and to see what I wore, hint it’s at the bottom!
- The Paper Dress Code | Matthew Richmond
The cool thing about Matthew’s designs is that they are made entirely out of recycled products, yeah that’s right these dress are made from things like tissue paper, wrappers, etc., the man is incredible. The last look, besides the hunk in short shorts HUBBA HUBBA, was my favorite! The model was super adorable and reminded me of a cupcake. Check out more of Matthew’s designs.
AAKOFII played with some very different looks ranging from collar necklaces to harnesses and shirt cuffs as accessories. His clothing kind of resembled a fashionable post-Apocalypse vibe. Make sure you check out all of AAKOFII’s designs.
3. The Plush Life | Shani Ricks
The plush life was all about risque swim-wear. Though these crochet suits were stylish some definitely showed a wee bit too much as they walked away for my taste. Shop more of Shani’s sexy swim-suits.
4. Rocklin | Negash
This line was definitely made up of more urban wear which I actually am a fan of, but I don’t really channel for my day to day ensembles. I do however like to watch what the boys are wearing not only for outfit ideas for my man but sometimes I also vibe with their laid back looks. Shop Nagash’s clothing.
This was another urban wear line that played a lot with colors and athletic wear as everyday clothing, not exactly my favorite look. I did however like the creativity of the line especially the unique look of these calf warmers. Make sure you check out their entire collection.
6. Pink Suede Elephant | Aahbia Plump
As you guys know I’m not very in your face with overly feminine or sexual looks but for some reason I enjoyed this line. The model in the first picture looks so gorgeous and free, I love her confidence! I also oddly like the second look by the Kendal Jenner doppelganger, more for the garment combination than the clothes itself.
7. Lady Liberty | Lena Harbali
This collection was very different from a lot of the other lines so far in the show. I won’t say I was as wildly excited as Anna { Ceen }, fellow blogger, about Lena’s patch work but I really enjoyed the silhouettes she created with her garments. Check out more of Lady Liberty.
8. Junea’ Raye | Brina Junae & Roxanne Raye
This was definitely one of my favorite designers in the show. That jacket is totally to die for, expect to see it in the fall, and those wide leg pants with the waist wrap are the best thing ever, look out for those too if they come in booty-licious size. I also love the vest belt combo, talk about outfit inspo to the max! I’m hoping all of their clothes come in my size because I definitely needed it all 2 years ago. See the entire Junea’ Raye collection.
9. Fly Ty’s 24HR Creations | Tyrone Hunter
Tyrone’s collection was urban meets glamor. He played around with a lot of black and gold combinations as well as leather and metallics. I definitely liked the male model’s, who was referred to as “the face” the whole night because he reminded me of that Spongebob episode where Squidward becomes beautiful, epic vest and jean combo.
Usually the only print I gravitate towards is leopard, but this line had me yearning for some giraffe! The whole collection was very bright, with colorful blues and greens combined with zebra or giraffe print in silky fabrics. I definitely need to get my hooves, see what I did there, on the jumpsuit because it is super chic. I’m also loving the silhouette of the blue vest duster and high waist pants, me thinks there will be a similar look coming soon.
This was definitely my runner up for favorite collection. LK Bennet’s line feature chic looks for the modern day working women, uhm hello me in a nutshell. The jacket with the matching dress and pops of yellow is perfect for spring, and my closet, as well as the coral dress.
