Hilton Garden Igloo Dining

Dec 1, 2019 | Travel Guides

As a lot of you know I return home to the small town of Wausau Wisconsin to visit my mom for the holidays. While it didn’t seem like there was much to do when I was growing up, a lot of cool things have been popping up over the past few years. Like this year the Hilton Garden Inn introduced a unique experience just in time for the holidays- dining in an igloo! As soon as my mom saw them she called to make a reservation. We were able to snag an igloo for the evening of Black Friday, but be forewarned they are booking up fast! My advice would be to arrive early to enjoy the upscale ski lodge vibes of Hilton’s lobby and bar. We chose to sit by the dual sided fireplace and enjoy some crafted cocktails, appetizers and a few rounds of Heads Up. First timers should definitely order the cheese curds because let’s be honest it’s a must if you’re visiting Wisconsin! If you’re wanting something a little different the green chorizo flatbread was delicious. Currently the Hilton has  two igloos and each comfortably seats 6 people. The chairs are decorated with plush fur, back pillows and even blankets. There’s also space heaters inside which kept the igloo surprisingly warmer than we expected. For dinner I had the salmon and was not disappointed! Out of all the other dishes we got I also really enjoyed the pork chops. If you’re gluten or dairy intolerant, no worries so is my Grandmother- you’ll find they have a very flexible menu. Overall it was a really enjoyable experience. What I liked the most was that it didn’t cost us any extra to dine in the igloo, we just had to spend over $100 which is easy to do with a party of 6. So if you’re looking for things to do in Wausau then definitely make a reservation for the Hilton Garden Inn Igloo experience!
