If you read last week’s post you’ll know that I’m just.not.feeling.it. this spring. I thought I felt a twinge of excitement as the weather slightly warmed, but it rained today as if to put the final nail in the coffin. Here lies any chance that I will wear anything remotely resembling spring this year. This dark denim jumpsuit and silk scarf combo was my, admittedly feeble, attempt to put together a casual yet chic spring outfit. While it doesn’t inherently scream SPRING IS HERE, it does have some of this season’s biggest trends.
Trend 2: Darker Denim
Another thing you’ll notice is that lighter denim, with the exception of white, is taking a backseat to darker denim this spring. You guys should know by now I can’t resist a good jumpsuit, so it should be no surprise that I instantly fell in love with this denim one from Mango. It’s the perfect blank canvas for a casual or dressier look depending on my mood. Plus the denim is thick enough to cut the spring chill that’s still in Michigan’s air.
Trend 1: Trench Coats
Spring is the time you’ll see a lot of trench coats. While typically you’d reach for a brighter option that matches the season, like the one in my spring trends post, I really wanted to play around with the subtle mixing of stripes in this look.
Trend 3: Silk Scarf
To give this otherwise dark outfit some spring flair I added an on trend silk scarf. This Parisian accessory is hands down the easiest and most affordable way to brighten up any outfit for spring. And something you can expect to see more of in the near future.
