Winter Accessories
Looking chic when it’s cold comes down to 3 things in my opinion: a good coat, functional yet cute shoes and stylish accessories. If you missed my post on a bunch of ways to style a faux fur coat check it out because it’s all about winter accessories today! While it’s easy to go overboard on buying accessories I personally believe in buying for life. That means when I buy something it’s with the intention of wearing it forever. By thinking about pieces in this way I avoid buyer’s remorse because I choose pieces I know I’ll get a lot of wear out of. This is really important when you’re trying to build a mindful wardobe. It isn’t about buying the latest and greatest but pieces that will last and continue to work for your lifestyle. That’s especially important for winter accessories. When bought with care they can be mixed and matched tons of ways not only to keep you warm but doing so in style. If you’re wondering what my go-to winter acccessories for being stylish on plus places to shop them, keep scrolling!
Faux Fur Headbands
Faux Fur Pom Beanies
I’ve always had a love hate relationship with beanies. While they’re super cute, if you like wearing your curls then beanies aren’t exactly the best fit. Since I’ve been rocking my hair in more protective styles like twists this chic faux fur beanie I scored at TJ Maxx, and is the only beanie I own, has been worn on repeat! When it comes to picking a beanie it’s all about choosing fun yet classic styles. Faux fur, or furry pom adds some personality to otherwise boring colors and if you’re really bold a pattern with classic colors could be perfect. The trick is to pick something that easily goes with most of the clothes you own instead of trying to buy a different beanie for each and every outfit. In case you’re looking some chic beanies I’ve rounded up a few for you:
Trapper Hats
This is winter accessory is for you my outdoorsy friends. It’s a heavier options to wear when you plan to be in the cold for long periods of time. I mostly reach for this trapper hat when I’m planning to do some hiking or sledding. The poms at the bottom allow me to tie it so it doesn’t fall off and it keeps all the heat from my head in. I even wore it in Iceland and it protected me from the sudden bursts of rain that happened throughout the day. The trick here is to find on the fits your head without sliding down too far for you to see. Some of my trapper hat picks include:
Ear Muffs
Earmuffs are a perfect winter accessory option for those looking to really show off their hair. I will say they are one of the trickier accessories to shop for because of the headband or size of the earmuffs. I was really pleasantly surprised by this pair from Forever 21. I love that the muffs are obnoxiously big but they don’t sit too high or low and they are extremely comfortable. Though they are cute it’s definitely a piece you’ll have to buy with caution. I suggest if possible trying them on in the store first before buying. In terms of colors I always stick to neutrals so I can get more wear. Here’s a few stylish options worth checking out:
Patterned Gloves
When it comes to gloves I definitely suggest that you start with finding a functional pair before style. You can have both but often times most cute pairs aren’t going to cut it for winter. If you’re just looking for something to wear driving or walking around then look for faux fur lined or leather gloves. For those planning to get into some snowball fights you’ll want some gloves that have water resistance. Personally I like to buy gloves with patterns. I either will buy black and white patterns or leopard print. Usually the patterns are subtle enough to blend in with my outfit so I can wear them with anything! Plus it’s a fun way to add more interest. Here are some gloves I’d buy if I was in the market:
