There’s nothing like the warm kiss of sunshine to get you in the mood for summer. I feel as though I had been longing to swap my bulky sweaters and coats for crop tops and wide leg pants that float in the breeze forever. Now I’m sure many of you have seen flares making a comeback, especially in the cropped variety, but honestly those cropped flares aren’t for me. I crave the classics. The perfect spring blazer, an always stylish crop top and la pièce de résistance, wide leg pants.
For the longest time I had considered myself a pear shape. Which meant I also adhered to many style limitations. No dark colored tops, avoid bright bottoms, blah blah blah. Sadly, for many years, I listened to these rules and avoided all things that could possibly make my hips look even wider, like I was dodging for my life in a harmless game of dodge ball in gym class. Luckily college happened, along with the discovery of the awesomeness that is Tumblr, where it dawned on me that the only person who cared about what clothes exaggerated my pear shape, was me. And just like that a weight was lifted off of my shoulders and an array of possibilities for my style opened before me. I was free to dress how I pleased and it felt good.
These days we are fed all kinds of “wear this” and “don’t wear that” nonsense constantly. It’s so easy to fall victim and listen to the limitations that are placed upon us. But it’s so important that you remember the only person who really has the power is you! Don’t let your style be limited when there is a vast sea of options waiting to be explored. Though it’s important to make thought out decisions to create a versatile wardrobe, it’s equally important to extend yourself outside of your comfort zone. So go ahead at try a trend you’re on the fence about as long as you like how you feel, and look, that’s all that matters! If you’re curious on how else to style these pants check out how I styled these striped wide leg pants for Fash Bash.
Now I want to hear from you, do you ever feel pressured to limit your style?

Absolutely agree with you that media plasters what to wear, do’s and don’ts to conform everyone to a cookie cutter style. We should have own style and own voice in what fashion is. Join my weekly Weekend Wear Linkup and share your style and stories.
