Black History Month Jordan's

To properly thank the boyfriend for buying me my first pair of Jordans I thought I would debut them on my website.  Though many sneaker heads would glare at me for wearing them so soon, I couldn’t resist finding a way to wear my Jordans to work.

I’ve noticed that the shoe of choice in my office is definitely trainers, actually the 10 year old, falling apart trainers, but generally speaking sneakers still get a bad rep in corporate America for being unprofessional, though the fashion world is helping to make strides to incorporate them into your work wardrobe.  Some tips for wearing sneakers in the workplace stylishly are:

  • Keep them Clean.  Nothing is more unprofessional than wearing dirty garments to work that also goes for your shoes, the exception being that your job requires you to get a little down and dirty.
  • Stick to Neutrals.  If you work in a more conservative office opt for classic sneakers in neutral tones to draw less attention to them.  Also choosing neutral colors will give your shoes longevity not only in terms of seasons, but also allowing you to pair them with more clothes in your closet.
  • Pair it with a Conservative Work Outfit.  To step your shoes up from casual to corporate stick to a traditional work outfit of a crisp button up and nice slacks.  Make sure that the hemline of your pants fall all the way to your sneakers.

Let’s face it, not everyone is a die hard heels fan and every now and then it’s good to give your feet a rest.  Choosing classic sneakers in a neutral color will allow you to not only remain stylish but give your feet the break that they deserve.
