Before I get into today’s post I would just like to ask you to take 3 seconds to help me get featured in StarCentral Magazine by voting for me as Fashionista of the Month. You can vote once a day and voting closes at 10AM on the 27th and every vote counts towards helping me win! If you could get your friends and family to vote too, that would be extra cool of you!
The last time I wore neutral shades I shared tips on how to avoid a style rut, but this time I wanted to wear something a little unexpected for fall. The great thing about beige, tan and other neutral tones is that they are surprisingly versatile and when paired together are a fresh take on monochrome. Picking neutral shades can be a bit difficult, the wrong color can quickly age you, but when they’re styled correctly they give you a more editorial look. Here are my tips to help you style your neutrals shades for fall:
- Don’t be too matchy matchy. A lot of people when attempting to rock their neutrals for a monochrome look try to get the same exact color all the way through, the result usually isn’t as awe-inspiring as one would hope. When looking to wear monochrome find colors in the same family but in varying shades.
- Play with texture. Don’t just wear jersey fabric in various shades, booooorrriiing, mix up your textures to give your outfit more depth and added interest.
- Switch up your proportions. Instead of wearing a shorter jacket that ends above your skirt, try a more fall friendly trend by rocking a trench coat or long-line vest over your mini skirt. Another way to mix up your proportions is if you normally wear lighter colors on your bottom half try them up top instead for something a little different.
Neutral shades are great for any wardrobe and work for a lot of different occasions. Whether it be for work or play, they have a lot of versatility making them an easy way to add more variety to your outfit rotation.
Don’t forget that I’ll be hosting my first Style Q&A during my end of the month outfit round-up so be sure to get your style questions to me either in the comments or via e-mail by Friday!
