I used to be skeptical of the whole high-waisted work pants because let’s be real, they kinda reminded me of a more formal version of the dreaded mom jeans.  After seeing them make “must-have classic” status on multiple blogs I decided it was time to get over my irrational fear and try some out, which is actually one of the best ways to refine your personal style.  I didn’t think they would work for my boyish yet pear shape but after putting these bad boys on I could tell it was the beginning of a personal love affair with all things high-waisted.  If you’re wondering how you can rock high waisted work pants, here are some tips:

  1. Find a pair that hits your natural waist.  This will help to accentuate your figure as well as elongate your legs!
  2. Choose a high waisted work pants that flatter your shape.  If you’re not a fan of the skinny look opt for a straight fit or even a flare style, just be sure to pair them with a more modern blouse or accessories.
  3. Wear them with the right style of top and shoes.  If the high waist makes your legs look disproportionately long pair them with a blouse that has vertical details like stripes.  To make your legs look even longer rock your pants with shoes in the same color.

Since fashion is cyclical it’s okay to rock vintage pieces, styles or fits of clothing, the key is to make them modern by pairing them with the right accessories or updating them with current colors to keep from looking like a costume.  The best thing you can do is to listen to your personal taste, you know what you like and don’t like better than anyone else so don’t be afraid to say that something doesn’t work for you and skip over a trend.   See how else you can rock these high waist pants for a night out.
