Culottes are quickly making a rise in the fashion scene and for good reason, they are a classic.  Like most trends, I am always skeptical and the last to give it a try but now I don’t know how I’ve lived without this tomboy essential.  The reason they are so great is that the right  pair gives the illusion on being a skirt but they’re really pants and they’re easy to dress up for work or down for a casual stroll around town.  If you don’t believe me check out how I styled these culottes 8 different ways.  Transitioning your culottes from summer to fall can be a breeze with the help of these tips:

  1. Swap out your tee or blouse for a sweater.  If you’re wearing your culottes to work switch out your blouse for a nice sweater, for a more casual way to style culottes in fall try a graphic sweatshirt.
  2. Layer appropriately. Bring an extra jacket in case the weather decides to suddenly drop.  A nice blazer works well for the office or you can reach for an on trend denim jacket to polish off your look.
  3. Make sure you cover your toes.  As the weather cools there’s not need to sacrifice warmth in the name of style, grab a pair of stylish flats, boots, or sneakers to finish off your outfit.
  4. Take advantage of accessories. Reach for fall themed accessories to help pull your look together and transition your culottes into fall.

Personally I place high importance on warmth over style, even when wearing culottes, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be stylish and warm at the same time.  The trick is to find the right pieces that both look flattering and keep you warm, or sneak a pair of spanx under your culottes whichever works best!
