I won’t lie this end of summer heat wave has been both a blessing and a curse. On the one hand it’s an opportunity to squeeze in a couple more things that you want to check off on your summer bucket list. For me that’s getting out on my paddle board, hitting the rollercade in downtown Detroit and enjoying one last rooftop party. The curse is that it’s hot af outside. Like too hot to be out and about in actual clothes. To beat the heat I’ve been reaching for an overlooked piece in most people’s closet, a crochet dress. It’s probably not the first thing you think of but wearing clothes that you’d usually wear to the beach is actually the perfect solution. They’re breathable and there are so many ways you can style them to create a look that works for you. I pinned this Paris fashion week street style outfit some years ago and forgot about it until I stumbled across this crochet dress from H&M. I was instantly inspired to put my spin on the look. The great thing about this crochet dress outfit idea is that it’s crazy breathable. The other thing is that you can make it work for your comfort level. While I went for a cute bra and underwear taking inspiration from the Miami street style I saw, you can layer with what you want underneath. An equally chic option could be a jumpsuit, romper, matching set or dress. I knew the bra and underwear would turn a lot of heads so I wore a linen blazer over top.
